Boys Come and Go, Music Is Forever
Hey,
OMG. I cannot believe it's already time to enter a new era. Yes, you heard that right, Lily Kincade has officially begun releasing music from her SECOND ALBUM!!!! Ahhh! Sometimes I like to talk about myself in the third person. I don't know why, but I think it helps me remain confident no matter what anyone else has to say. Whatever works, right? If you haven't listened to my new single "DRIVEAWAYBOY" yet, stop what you're doing and listen to it RIGHT NOW!!!! Seriously, I'll wait.

I wanted to share a little bit about the song and how it came to be. I started writing "DRIVEAWAYBOY" back in November 2025. At the time, I had a little verse and chorus idea that I brought into the studio to work on with my producer, Kyle. We got a little vibe going, and then decided to let the song rest for a few months while we finished up Cinematic (Deluxe). Over the next few months, I kept writing and giving myself space to figure out exactly what I wanted to say. Something I've learned about songwriting is that you really can't force it. Some songs practically write themselves in an afternoon, while others need months of sitting around, being overthought and occasionally being ignored before they decide what they want to become.

I think there's something quite romantic about letting art take its time. We live in a world where everything is supposed to happen immediately, and sometimes I have to remind myself that just because something isn't finished doesn't mean it isn't becoming something wonderful. Every song has its own little life, and that's one of my favorite things about being a songwriter. I'm currently working on a songwriting process video for "DRIVEAWAYBOY", but in the meantime, you should definitely check out the songwriting process videos for my other songs on my YouTube channel, linked here! I love being able to show you how these songs go from random little ideas in my head to something you can actually listen to. By the summer of 2026, Kyle and I finally finished "DRIVEAWAYBOY", and I knew almost immediately that it had to be the first single of this new era. I can't quite explain it, but something about the song felt like turning the page, rolling down the windows and driving toward a completely new chapter. Which, considering the title, feels rather appropriate.
I also had the BEST time shooting the cover art and making the music video with my dad! Y'all know how much I love doing everything myself. From coming up with the concepts to designing the visuals, I LOVE IT ALL!!! I'm genuinely so proud of how everything turned out, and I hope you're loving this song as much as I loved making it.

Please tell me your favorite lyric from "DRIVEAWAYBOY" and your favorite part of the music video in the comments below. I always love hearing which little moments stand out to you.
And before I go, I just want to say thank you for being here. Whether you've been listening since my very first songs or you just found me yesterday, it means more than you know. We're only at the beginning of this new chapter, and I have so many things I cannot wait to share with you.
If there's anything I hope you take away from following this crazy little journey of mine, it's that you should never talk yourself out of going after the things you love. Make the art, take the chance, start the project, embarrass yourself a little if you have to. There's a whole lot of life waiting on the other side of simply trying.
Okay, enough of my rambling. Go listen to "DRIVEAWAYBOY" and watch the official music video!
Xoxo, Lily
