Happy, Pretty, Busy

Happy Monday or I guess happy whatever day it is when you’re reading this!!! I’ve decided I want to start writing here more, almost like a diary. No more waiting until I have the perfect thing to say… I’ve just got to write!

Anyway, today on my Instagram, I posted some photos with the caption “happy, pretty, busy”—because lately, that’s been my mantra. I came across it over a year ago in a Vogue article celebrating Alexa Chung’s 40th birthday. She shared 40 pearls of wisdom in honor of the milestone. (Side note: If you don’t know who Alexa Chung is, look her up immediately. She’s the original It Girl, the blueprint for rockstar girlfriends, forever iconic.) In the article, she mentioned that when she and her friends were younger, they had a go to mantra they’d repeat whenever they ran into an ex: “Happy, pretty, busy.”

I, however, have taken this mantra and used it not just for awkward ex encounters, but for any moment I’m feeling stuck, insecure, or not good enough. I remind myself that I am always happy, pretty, and busy. And guess what? It works. If you have some free time, I highly recommend reading through the whole list of wisdom she shared. I have the article saved on my computer because it’s packed with gems.
