Turning Into a New York City Girl
Hey y’all!!!
Long time no talk…but that’s because I’ve been running around the country! I just got back to Los Angeles after working on my album in Nashville and then visiting one of my best friends in New York City.
As much as I adore traveling, I will forever and always be a West Coast girl. I’ve lived in California for almost ten years now, and once you experience life here, there’s truly no going back. The sunshine, the palm trees, the ocean breeze—there’s just something about it that feels like home. That said, I have to admit… New York stole a piece of my heart. There’s an energy there unlike anywhere else, and I already find myself counting down the days until I can go back.
This trip was special for so many reasons. I got to catch up with some of my closest friends, make so many new ones, and explore parts of the city I had never seen before. One of my favorite things was visiting the museums—there’s just something so inspiring about being surrounded by history, art, and creativity. Walking through the Met, staring up at paintings that have existed for centuries, made me feel like I was part of something so much bigger. It reminded me why I create—why music, storytelling, and art are so essential to who I am.
Beyond that, I just soaked in all the little moments that make New York so magical. The way the city sparkles at night. The feeling of walking down the street and hearing five different languages being spoken at once. The fact that there’s always something happening—no matter the time of day. Even something as simple as grabbing a coffee and people-watching felt like an experience in itself.

And yes, I absolutely listened to Welcome to New York by Taylor Swift more times than I can count while walking through the city. Some things are just necessary.
Now that I’m back in LA, I’m feeling more inspired than ever. Traveling always reminds me how big the world is, how many stories there are to tell, and how important it is to chase your dreams—no matter what. So consider this your sign: if there’s somewhere you’ve been dying to go, go. If there’s a goal you’ve been putting off, start now. Life is too short to wait.
Happy to be home, but already dreaming of my next NYC adventure!
Xoxo, Lily
