What I’ll Miss Most About Summer
Okay, I know summer doesn’t officially end until September 22nd, but tell me why it already feels like fall is sneaking in early this year? The air feels different, the light feels softer, and honestly? I don’t mind. I’m that girl who will unapologetically wear tights and oversized sweaters every single day once the leaves start to change. Give me a piping hot pumpkin spice latte and “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)” in my headphones, and I’m thriving. Summer has been sweet. It always is. Before I swap out my sundresses for trench coats, I wanted to write down the little things I’ll miss most about this magical season.
1. Salty hairThe kind of tangled, ocean-kissed hair that feels like the sea decided to live in it for a while.
2. The hope of it allThere’s something about summer nights that makes every plan feel like it could change your whole life.
3. Fresh watermelonIce-cold slices on a hot day, dripping down your wrist and reminding you it’s okay to be a little messy.
4. Going out with no jacketThat light, free feeling when you leave the house with nothing but your bag and lip gloss.
5. The sun setting at 8:30Golden hour stretching and stretching, like the universe wants you to soak in every last drop.
6. DrivingWindows down, music blasting, listening to “Real” and pretending you’re in the opening scene of a movie.
7. Wearing a sundress 80% of the timeIt’s the uniform of summer. Vintage sundresses are even better.
8. Spontaneous adventuresThe late-night texts that turn into “let’s just go” moments, and suddenly it’s 3 a.m. and you’re making memories.
9. The moments that feel like childhoodMelting ice cream, sprinklers, the smell of sunscreen.
10. Tan linesThe temporary tattoos of summer, proof that you’ve been out in the world soaking it all in.
11. The beautiful inconsistency of thingsThe weather, the plans, the energy. Nothing stays the same for long, and that’s the beauty of it.
12. Laying on the beach with a bookThe sound of waves, the smell of salt, the escape into another world while your toes are buried in the sand.
Summer will always be the season that feels like a secret…fleeting, a little chaotic, but full of memories that last longer than the heat ever does. Maybe that’s why some days I still feel like I’m in August. Anyways, I am so ready for the fall and for you to hear my debut album “Cinematic” October 24th!!!
Xoxo, Lily
